Tata Electronics has outlined an ambitious plan to become a $30 billion business over the next five years, driven by aggressive investments in semiconductor fabrication, chip packaging, and electronics manufacturing services (EMS). CEO & MD Randhir Thakur said the company’s semiconductor “fab play” will anchor its next phase of growth and position India as a major global electronics manufacturing destination.
The company has rapidly scaled from a ₹400 crore revenue base to an estimated ₹1.3 lakh crore revenue run rate within a few years, emerging as one of the fastest-growing businesses within the Tata Group ecosystem. Tata Electronics is investing heavily across the semiconductor value chain, including India’s first commercial semiconductor fabrication facility in Dholera, Gujarat, and a large OSAT (Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Testing) plant in Assam.
The Dholera semiconductor fab project alone involves investments of around ₹91,000 crore and is being developed in partnership with Taiwan’s PSMC. The company is also expanding its electronics manufacturing footprint through iPhone supply chain operations, including facilities acquired from Wistron and Pegatron in India.
Tata Electronics has secured partnerships with global semiconductor and technology players including Intel, Qualcomm, Bosch, Rohm, Tokyo Electron, and Analog Devices. Industry analysts see the expansion as a transformational step toward building a vertically integrated electronics and semiconductor ecosystem in India.
